Privacy Policy
Effective July 4, 2026 · Last updated July 4, 2026
This policy explains what information ResumeShine.ai ("ResumeShine", "we", "us") collects, how we use it — including when we send resume content to AI providers to tailor your resume — and the choices you have. We built ResumeShine on a simple promise: we enhance your real experience, we never fabricate it, and the same honesty applies to how we handle your data.
1. Overview
ResumeShine.ai is a resume-tailoring service: you upload a resume (or build one from scratch), optionally add a job description, and our AI rewrites and formats your resume to match the role. This policy covers the ResumeShine website, app, and related services (together, the "Service").
2. Information we collect
Account information
Name, email address, password (stored as a salted hash), and sign-in method (e.g. Google OAuth) when you create an account.
Resume & career content
The resumes you upload or build, job descriptions or postings you paste in, headshots you add, and any edits you make. This is the most sensitive data we handle, and it is treated accordingly (see Section 8).
Payment information
Billing details are collected and processed by our payment processor. We do not store full card numbers on our own servers.
Usage & device data
Pages visited, features used, browser/device type, and approximate location (from IP address), collected via cookies and similar technologies.
3. How we use it
- To generate, tailor, format, and score your resume against a job description.
- To operate your account, process payments, and provide customer support.
- To send service emails (confirmations, receipts) and, if you opt in, product tips and offers.
- To detect abuse, secure the Service, and comply with legal obligations.
- To improve our AI prompts, templates, and matching logic using de-identified or aggregated data.
4. AI processing
To tailor your resume, we send relevant parts of your resume and job description to third-party AI model providers under contracts that prohibit them from using your data to train their models. This processing is necessary for the Service to function — there is currently no way to use ResumeShine's tailoring features without it.
7. Retention & deletion
We keep your resumes and account data for as long as your account is active, so you can return to past versions. If you delete a resume or your account, we remove the associated content from active systems within 30 days, and from backups on our standard backup rotation schedule.
8. Data security
Resume content and headshots are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is limited to systems and staff who need it to operate the Service. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights & choices
Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to opt out of certain uses. You can exercise most of these directly from your account settings, or by contacting us at privacy@resumeshine.ai.
10. International transfers
We may process and store data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for cross-border transfers.
11. Children's privacy
ResumeShine is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We'll post updates here and revise the "Last updated" date above. For material changes, we'll provide additional notice, such as an email or in-product banner.
